" Trompe l'oeil " french for " fools the eye " is the art of realism that makes the viewer look closely, questioning the the 3-D realness of the picture. This type of realism requires the artist to characterize the perspective, shapes, colors and values in order to accomplish the illusion. This type of painted style may require 4 or more hours per square foot based on complexity.
